Blocked Drains
Gullies, floor wastes, sinks and yard drains running slow or stopped, with the cause found and named before the clearing starts and a fixed quote before anyone opens a grate.
Plumber Keperra clears blocked drains, sewers and stormwater lines across Keperra and nearby streets, using a camera when the cause needs seeing, and every job starts with a fixed quote before work begins. Start on the Keperra home page for all the plumbing and gas work we do.
If we're late, $100 comes off your bill

The four pages below split drainage into the calls we actually take. Match your symptom to the right one:
from the toilet, floor waste or laundry: start with blocked sewer.
in the house, kitchen sink included: blocked drains covers the clearing work.
after rain: that is blocked stormwater.
, or a drain you want checked before renovating: CCTV drain inspections.
Still guessing between them? Ring (07) 3067 4274 and describe what you are seeing. A quick phone call usually fixes it.

The Housing Commission acquired most of this land back in 1951, and the cottages from those years went up while Brisbane was still extending sewers to its newer streets. Any house drain still on its original pipe from that era is glazed clay.
That matters for two reasons:
The decomposed-granite subsoil here carries fine grit, and it works into every cracked joint until the line chokes on its own sediment.
The golf club has been there since 1931, its links crossing Kedron Brook toward Arana Hills, and Keperra Bushland, the council reserve on Levitt Road, marks the southern fringe. Roots from roadside plantings, trees around the golf course and the nearby bushland force their way into drain joints in the area.
Each of the four pages below goes deeper than this page can, covering how we diagnose, clear and repair that particular line.

Gullies, floor wastes, sinks and yard drains running slow or stopped, with the cause found and named before the clearing starts and a fixed quote before anyone opens a grate.

Toilets, laundry and bathroom waste backing up toward the house, boundary trap faults and the sewer blockages that cannot sit in a booking queue while the pan keeps filling up.

Downpipes, subsoil lines and yard pits that fill in heavy rain, which matters in a suburb where summer storms arrive very hard and the stony ground sheds water away fast.

A camera through the line to show the exact fault and its location, whether that is roots, a sagged section or a cracked joint, before anyone lifts a single shovel.
$0 call-out fees, available 24/7, and same-day where we can.
Diagnosis comes before digging, always. The sequence below is how a drainage job runs from your first call to the finished repair.
What the ground does to a drain here. Parts of the suburb sit on shallow, stony granite hills that send roof water downhill fast onto the blocks below, so the neighbour downhill often feels a blocked subsoil line before the source does. And when water escapes a cracked joint, the decomposed-granite bedding under the pipe can wash away, leaving the drain sagging at that spot and holding debris. A drain that blocks repeatedly in the same place is usually telling you the pipe has moved.
Newer pockets play by different rules. In The Quarry and Kings Grove, built on the old drive-in site, the pipes are young enough that a blockage usually comes from what went down the drain rather than from what the pipe is made of. That difference shapes the diagnosis before anything else.

Backing up inside points at the sewer, pooling outside points at stormwater, and a one-sided slow drain points at a fixture fault instead.

Where the cause is not obvious from the surface, a camera inspection shows the pipe from the inside and pinpoints the fault.

Some jobs need the line cleared only; others need a section of pipe replaced once the camera has shown why it keeps blocking.

The February 2022 creek flood extent council mapped touches only a handful of local blocks, and the streets on that list are Burdon, Duggan, Babinda and Avington Streets. When a big cell hits, those homes cop the worst of it.
Council's overland-flow mapping flags streets including Glengarry Road and Barber Street. The storm of November 2008 tore through this suburb and did damage over towards The Gap and Ferny Grove as well, and any strong cell since has shown how fast gully pits and yard drains can fill when the rain arrives faster than the older lines empty.
If your blockage arrived with a storm and water is standing in the yard, the stormwater page is the right start. If the storm has passed and the drains are still slow days later, something is stuck in the line, and that is a clearing or inspection job.

Ring (07) 3067 4274 and tell us what's happening in Keperra. A few quick questions up front means the right parts come on the first visit.

You get flat-rate pricing with no hidden fees before any work starts. Approve it and we get going.

The drain gets cleared or camera-checked, the cause gets named in plain words, and the fix targets the fault rather than the symptom, so the blockage does not return the next time it rains.

Pay by card or EFTPOS on site when the job's done, or ask us about Fix now, pay later.

Drainage work rewards that combination, because a camera check plus a price you approve up front means you know what is in the ground before you are committed to opening it up.
There are no call-out fees for Keperra jobs, and no added charge for nights, weekends or public holidays.

Every repair sits under our Fix-It-or-It's-Free guarantee (T&Cs apply). If we're late, $100 comes off your bill.
Each job is done by a licensed plumber under QBCC No: 15024607, and a lifetime labour warranty covers the labour.
Licensed and insured, locally owned and operated, with flat-rate pricing.

Give us a ring on (07) 3067 4274 and explain the problem. We're available 24/7, every Keperra job has zero call-out fees and flat-rate pricing, and we work under QBCC No: 15024607, with same-day when we can.

If the problem turns out to be fixtures rather than drains, the plumbing page covers taps, toilets, bathrooms and gas fitting, and the contact page lists the details worth having handy before you call.
Most repeat blockages here come down to either tree roots invading old clay drain joints or a sagged pipe section, and a camera inspection reveals which problem you face.
Urban Utilities maintains the street mains and the public network, but anything from the connection point inward across your property is yours, and clearing it is our job.
A blocked sewer backs up from your toilets, gully pits and laundry, while blocked stormwater shows up as pooling in the yard and street pits after rain.
It does, because fine granite grit silts up cracked clay joints and escaping water can wash away the bedding under a pipe until it sags and holds debris.
Yes, the camera travels the line and shows the exact spot and cause, so any digging that follows is small and aimed at the fault rather than guesswork.
Ring (07) 3067 4274, tell the team what your drains are doing, where the problem sits and when it started, and we will get a drainage plumber started same-day where we can.
